Get Your Kicks at the Lovelane Hoedown!!

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012

Foodies, music lovers and local enthusiasts convened at a private Dedham farm for the biennial Hoedown supporting Lovelane Special Needs Horseback Riding Program.  The afternoon-to-evening event designed and produced by Corinthian Events was an over-the-top journey down Historic Route 66, inviting guests to “get their kicks!”

Arriving at a “toll both,” guests proceeded along the double yellow line from the parking lot to the party where they were met by a dancing cop, the evening’s signature drink – “The Roadie,” and passed hors d’oeuvres.  The remote controlled race track, miniature golf holes and cornhole games offered guests the opportunity for party pit stops.  Local guitar duo, Two for the Road, opened the cocktail reception, followed by a traffic-stopping performance by James Montgomery.

The over 600 guests tasted their way along the highway, with 17 of Boston’s celebrity chefs serving up themed bites from different Route 66 locations – Chicago Chorizo Burgers with Shoestring Fries, Southern Fried Chicken with a Root Beer Glaze.  Tables topped with vintage cigarettes, miniature cars and road signs were set amongst 50’s diner booths and chain-linked garage décor providing fun places for guests to kick back and take a seat.

Following a heartfelt program to benefit Lovelane, the evening’s grand finale was a glowing performance by Tedeschi Trucks Band featuring Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks.  Lovelane supporters danced the night away under connected tents counting down the minutes until Hoedown VI in 2014.

Zero to Fun: Raw Space Transformation

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

This past August we had the opportunity to transform the unfinished space in one of our client’s downtown offices and wow did we have fun! When cleared out, this massive raw space typically used for storage became the perfect blank canvas for an elaborate dinner, capping off a day of meetings. A two-day load in allowed us to create a fully finished dining area featuring sleek tables with custom linens and a simple yet impactful platform for the evening’s speaking program.  The crisp white carpet and drape helped guests stay cool in the stifling August heat – along with an arsenal of mobile cooling units, of course!  Guests were first welcomed into the client’s finished office space for cocktails and a chance to tour the impressive facility before being seated for dinner.

Corinthian Events - Boston Event Planning News

There are a couple of new faces around 109 Kingston Street that we’d like to introduce to you.  We’re so thrilled to add Caroline and Zoe to our team – making us an office of eleven!

Caroline Loughlin joined Corinthian Events in September 2012 and is very happy to be part of such a great team!  A graduate of UMass Amherst, Caroline has a diverse background in corporate event planning and charitable giving management.  Her ability to remain calm in stressful situations while maintaining great attention-to-detail, allows Caroline to lead events successfully.  A native of the Boston area, Caroline loves all things beach-related, spending time with friends and family, running and recently did her first triathlon.

After graduating from Boston College in May 2012 with a degree in Communications, Zoe McNealy spent the summer relaxing before joining the Corinthian Events team in September.  Originally a student at New York University, Zoe held her first internship in events as a sophomore and knew that event planning was something she wanted to pursue.  A few years and a handful of internships later she feels quite lucky to have landed a job where she can learn, grow, and apply some of her acquired skills.  When she’s not in the office or reading her Kindle on the train, Zoe can be found watching the Food Network, attempting to figure skate as well as she did in high school, and traveling as much as possible.

Breakfast with a Former Patriot!

Matt Light speaks at this month's New Boston Business Network breakfast

It’s not often that we find ourselves in the presence of a Super Bowl Champion (never mind someone that has won the Super Bowl three times!), however last week Courtney, Kait, and Caroline joined members of the New Boston Business Network to hear Matt Light speak.  As part of their “Fall Speaker Series Breakfast” the recently retired New England Patriots Offensive Lineman spoke on his experience in the NFL and lessons he learned on and off the field.  All three thought he was an excellent speaker and provided many valuable points on how to create a winning team.  Here are a few tidbits they took away from the breakfast:

  • Work Hard, Play Hard – It’s important to do your job and have fun while you’re doing it!
  • Surround yourself with positive, driven people to achieve your goals.
  • Lead By Example – Holding yourself and others accountable is the key to being successful.  Set a good example to employees, vendors, kids, friends, etc. and hope for good things in return!

Definitely great advice and all things that we at Corinthian Events strive to do every day!
