Earlier this Spring, we had the pleasure of working with Youth Enrichment Services (YES) on their 4th Annual Black Diamond Gala at the Revere Hotel. YES is a non-profit, community-based organization that provides Boston’s inner-city youth with year-round, out-of-school programs. These invigorating activities help children to build leadership skills and self-confidence.
The VIP reception was held in the hip Emerald Lounge, while the Silver Supporters enjoyed the bar area of Space 57. We engaged 501 Auctions and their mobile bidding and online auction platform turned the auction into quite an exciting part of the evening. Although they were in different locations, both the VIP’s and Silver Supporters were able to bid on the same silent auction items at the same time! 501 Auctions makes it easy when building an auction catalog, collecting the bids and processing payments. Texts were also frequently sent out, notifying guests of items with little bidding action, how much time was left for them to bid, and alerting the highest bidder when they were outbid by other guests. While the bidding frenzy ensued, delicious hors d’oeuvres from the Revere were passed for guests to enjoy!
After the cocktail reception, the VIP and Silver Supporters came together for a seated dinner in Space 57. Sam Adams donated beer which served as the centerpiece on the tables – who doesn’t love a sleek Lucite beer bucket as a centerpiece?! In addition to the beer buckets, tasty black diamond desserts were displayed in the center of the table on a spinning lazy susan for all to share!
Tony V, the comedian, kept guests entertained all night and exceeded expectations with a lively fund-a-need auction. The first donors at the top level were given custom slalom skis – what a kick!
The evening was a huge success, with YES raising over $300,000 for Boston youth, and we are already planning how to top it next year!
