Giving Thanks, Corinthian Events Style!

It’s that time of year when we get together with our loved ones and remind ourselves of all the things we’re thankful for…and then eat five pounds of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and pie. This year at Corinthian Events we have a lot to be thankful for. In addition to our amazing clients and incredible team of colleagues, vendor partners, and friends, here’s what else we’re thankful for:

While most of us are thankful for the coffee that keeps us going throughout the day…

…some of us are thankful for the 11 flights of stairs to the office for a morning kick start!

We are so very thankful for rechargeable votive candles…imagine changing 300 batteries a day?! We are also thankful for the remote control that lights them all with one click of a button!

We are thankful for the Blundstone boots that are comfortable AND waterproof.

You can bet we’re thankful for a big glass of wine at the end of a long day (sometimes poured at our desks)!

And who wouldn’t be thankful for having a job that’s similar to the Thanksgiving Feast – so much time, prep  and planning goes into creating and executing but the actual meal itself, like most events, only lasts for a short amount of time. And don’t get us started on the clean up!

We are super thankful for our amazing vendor partners that are definitely part of the family. They’ll even travel to sunny Florida with us!

We couldn’t make it without the help of our dedicated contract staff. We’ll always be thankful for their never ending sense of humor, ability to do some of the silliest things we ask of them without question, and confidence while wearing some very interesting outfits!  You are amazing, and we could not do any of this without you!

And sometimes, every now and then…we are all thankful when an event is over!

An Intern’s Perspective

Corinthian Events has been lucky enough to have Jaimie Darling, our rock star intern, for the past four months. We can’t thank her enough!

Below is an insider’s perspective of our crazy world at Corinthian Events from Jaimie on her last day:

“Overall, my internship with Corinthian Events was an extremely positive experience. On a daily basis, the office was a place full of creativity and passion. I could see how obstacles were tackled and mental blocks were broken – teamwork and dedication! Every situation was approached with professional poise. As I continue on in the event planning world, I hope to be as good as the team of professionals working at Corinthian Events.

During my first week with Corinthian, I had the opportunity to sit in on a Final Production Schedule meeting for an upcoming event. The event was a 150th Celebration for a private high school. The floor plan that was present in the room was incredible. I was amazed at how much detail went into it – considering when I was in school, it was all done on a computer. The production schedule was so extensive, you could tell tons of time and effort went into it.

A month later, to my surprise, I was given the opportunity to work this event with the Corinthian Events team. The day was extremely frigid, and full of tasks to be completed. Everyone worked really hard to get the site ready for the gala that would begin that evening. For me, this event was my favorite. I got to work coat check. This job doesn’t seem to be all that glorious, but it was for me. I got to see the faces and reactions of the gala guests when they took their first glance into the gala. They were truly amazed and hypnotized by the beauty of it, as was I. I will never forget what Corinthian Events was able to accomplish that night.

It’s obvious that Corinthian Events always does a standout job that seems to wow not only the guests, but their intern as well! I’m so thankful for this experience, and I hope to come back to help in the future!”

Uber’s Newest Service Will Get You There

In the event planning industry, planners do everything possible to make sure their events run smoothly and go off without a hitch. They make sure the decor fits the theme, the food is mouthwatering, and that guests are having the time of their lives. With Uber’s new service UberEvents, planners and hosts can even make sure their guests arrive and leave the event safely!

Starting in September, Uber began testing their new service in New York City. UberEvents allows hosts of an event to create a promo code that guests can use by opening the Uber app and entering it in the promo code section. Hosts have the options of setting a value for the promo code (such as $15 credited towards the ride) or setting a certain number of rides the person can take before the promo code expires. The best part? If guests choose to find their own transportation and don’t use the promo code, the difference is given back to the host – no money lost, woohoo!

Not only will this make the event go smoother, but it will guarantee the safety of the guests before they’ve arrived and after they leave. So if there happens to be an open bar at your next event, you can feel better knowing Uber has your back.

Let’s hope that the testing in NYC goes well so we can welcome this awesome service to Boston!


An Autumnal Forum

This past September, we had the great pleasure of partnering with the Council on Business and Society on their esteemed International Forum. This year’s host of the Forum was the Tuck School of Business and Dartmouth College.

Our venue for this 2-day conference was the Seaport World Trade Center. What better backdrop than the Atlantic Ocean for this gathering! The topic for this year’s Forum was Energy, Business, and Society.

This global gathering was kicked off by a traditional New England Autumnal Dinner. We had the opportunity to deck out one of our favorite ballrooms in the city – The Lighthouse – in warm autumn tones.

Soft music was playing as guests mingled and checked into the conference by our professional registration staff on iPads. Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres before seating for a three course dinner and welcoming their first keynote speaker.


In the morning, guests were given a lovely takeaway tote to keep their belongings throughout the day. The tote included a small keepsake from New England as well! The meeting was comprised of many distinctive keynote speakers and concluded in the great Amphitheater space at the WTC in a Case Competition of graduate students delivering their perspectives on the issues.

Well laid out signage was used throughout this vast conference center to keep our group together and well organized. Strategically placing signage with the conference logo is a great tip for any meeting planner! Overall, the meeting was a great success shared by many. Because the Forum’s topic was on energy, there was a great emphasis on ensuring the many green opportunities were met. Water bottles were served as pitchers on beverage stations, coffee cups were all ceramic and not paper, and even the meeting agenda and speaker program was printed on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) paper. We thank our friends at Dartmouth College for their partnership and look forward to the next one!
