Snow in the Fairmont Copley Ballroom!

With “Winter Wonderland” 2011’s holiday decor inspiration of choice, this season, we added the ballroom at the Fairmont Copley Place to our list of frosty yet elegant transformations.  Passing through a white carpeted forest of birch, guests found themselves in a ballroom brought to life.  Tables glittered and glistened with soft candlelight and reflective crystal strings; soft seating areas were plush with platinum furniture and enhanced with soft lighting.  Then, before guests eyes, it began to snow right inside the ballroom!  The stagnant decor (in the form of stilted human birch trees) came to life as snowflakes fell from the ceiling.  A birch tree gave a wink as the silver “tree” central on the iconic mirror bar magnificently ruffled her leaves…

Reminiscent of a classic winter wonderland, this modern and elegant interpretation of this theme allowed for an interactive evening of dancing, lounging, eating, and celebrating.  A photo station set behind a sheered-off section of the Fairmont Copley ballroom called “Frozen Memories” allowed guests to have their photo taken and then inserted into a snow globe for a festive holiday take-away.  Cake pops decorated with flavorful snowflakes were abundant as guests brought red velvet, chocolate, and vanilla bites homes with them!

It’s the Holiday Season!

This past Monday we transformed the Gallery and Ballroom at the Mandarin Oriental Boston for a corporate holiday party.  The décor was designed to be lush, cozy and inviting with a deep plum and chocolate brown palate accented with pops of silver.  To shake things up, we imported some stunning furniture from NYC and installed a custom dance floor complete with swirly snowflake inlay – so fun!

An Evening of Charm at the Old South Meeting House

Boasting one of the best downtown locations in Boston and doused with colonial history, this past month, the Old South Meeting House provided the iconic back drop for a corporate dinner reception.  As guests arrived at the venue, they were welcomed with the host’s glowing logo projected on the sidewalk and made their way inside the museum to find passed hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and tables set amongst the pews.

There’s nothing like a Smilebooth with a festive backdrop to add fun to your evening.  Adorn your desk – this sleek machine produced logo-branded image strips that were slipped into plastic frames for guests to take away.

And arguably the best part of the evening, Livingston Taylor performed beneath the pulpit throughout the night. (Our Jill might be his biggest fan!)

Retirement Party Chic at the EpiCenter

We recently had the opportunity to work in one of our favorite venues – the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter in South Boston!  The foundation’s raw gallery space is an event designer’s dream; a clean slate that’s ready for anything.  We chose sleek, modern pieces and accented them with bold linen and pops of color.  The fabulous in-house artwork doesn’t hurt, either.

Blasts of amber and red light worked in tandem with an abundance of candlelight to really bring the space to life.

A live chef demo station quickly became the hub of the party. Local celebrity Chef Jamie Mammano of Mistral was on hand churning out plates of mouth-watering pasta to eager guests. Towards the end of the night, the station transitioned from savory to sweet, plating up sinfully delicious profiteroles.

Rounding out the evening, DJ Kupah worked the beats from the second floor balcony as guests grooved the night away!

Repeat anyone? We’re always looking for an excuse visit Mistral…

Innovation, Interaction & Creativity: A Night at the Museum

Guests gathered in the Museum of Science’s Blue Wing for an unforgettable corporate dinner reception last Wednesday.  Welcomed into the wing by a strolling mad scientist, guests were awed by his slew of tricks – sometimes the line between magic and science is hard to define!

Seasonal cuisine filled the food stations which were situated throughout the wing’s three floors to allow guests to simultaneously graze and interact with the museum exhibits.  Autumnal linens adorned cocktail tables, while an array of creative and “science-y” centerpieces completed the theme.  Low cocktail tables were home to containers of assorted futuristic glowing gels.

Grouped test tubes held delicate orchids or calla lillies on the high communal tables.

Quirky floral filled beakers were scattered on the high tops.

Celosia (or as we fondly refer to them, “brain flowers”) rested on 60 inch rounds.

It was, quite literally, a glowing event!

Fashion Week Tent Event

Boston Fashion Week may start today, but the tent in the courtyard of the Mandarin Oriental was christened earlier in the week with a swanky evening affair.  After a day of meetings, our corporate guests were invited into the elegantly transformed space for an evening of mingling, drinking and dining. For a fun surprise, an illusionist performed few mind-bending tricks – it was hard to look away – and worked his way through the crowd, aweing and impressing guests as he went.

Rich hardwood tables, plush seating and lavish linens afforded guests a luxurious setting for the reception and warm amber lighting ensured the space only got cozier as the night went on – despite the dreary weather outside!

Here are a few photos from Tuesday’s exclusive event.

An Evening on Federal Hill

Last week, we planned and executed décor and entertainment for a 2-day meeting at the Rhode Island Convention Center which included a cyber café, breakfast and lunch décor and a total transformation of the RICC foyer space for a lavish evening reception.

Check out the Cyber Café décor – complete with two fully functioning coffee bars, lounge seating and fresh flowers!

For the evening reception, guests were transported to Providence’s own “Little Italy” – Federal Hill.

A grand entryway welcomed guests to “the Hill” while décor included a working fountain (reminiscent of De Pasquale Plaza), park benches, lampposts and trees.

Interactive chef demo stations featured chefs from four local hot spots – Blue Grotto, Pane e Vino, Potenza, and Camille’s. Custom signage, menu boards and surrounding table décor reflected the individual personality of each restaurant. From simple white linen with lanterns, to elegant supper club lamps and even rod iron café tables complete with umbrellas, Corinthian Events ensured guests experienced all that “the Hill” has to offer in one, fabulous evening!

Chihuly Inspired: A Reception at the MFA

The whole city is talking about it; and if you haven’t been to see it yet the Chihuly Exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston should be high on your list of things to do (don’t worry, you have until August 7th).  As you enter, you will notice that Dale Chihuly’s glass blown flowers may be stagnant but they are very much interactive!  Throughout the entire exhibition, each eye-catching piece is conversing deliberately and playfully with the others, creating a fantastical and completely captivating composition.

With the colored glass being perhaps the most apparent aspect of the exhibition, what better way to design a dinner reception in the new Shapiro Family Courtyard, than to play on those colors?  So we did just that.  Using orange, turquoise and purple, the vibrancy of Chihuly’s work was echoed throughout the courtyard with rich linens and whimsical florals scattered on the cocktail lows and high top tables.

There’s still a month left for us to plan your very own Chihuly event!

Laughs to Benefit AANE

It’s gala season here at Corinthian Events and this one was especially, well, funny!  On April 30th, 450 guests gathered at the Marriott Hotel in Newton for an evening of spirited bidding, upscale comfort food and a hilarious performance by comedian Steven Wright.

One of the best silent auctions around, jumbo balloons held up silent auction signs denoting various item categories.  High tops dressed in red and black linens were topped with sound-activated lights that flickered throughout the ballroom.  Guests enjoyed passed tapas (lobster fritters and mini meatloaf – yum!), a seasonal pasta station and action stations including shrimp and grits.

Once the silent auction closed, guests moved to upstairs ballroom for the main event!  Cabaret tables were adorned with glowing tulip arrangements by Winston’s Flowers.  The live auction and AANE program ensued, and the night was capped off by a classic Steven Wright performance.  He even sang for the audience!

We can’t wait ’til next year for lots more laughs!
