Foodies, music lovers and local enthusiasts convened at a private Dedham farm for the biennial Hoedown supporting Lovelane Special Needs Horseback Riding Program. The afternoon-to-evening event designed and produced by Corinthian Events was an over-the-top journey down Historic Route 66, inviting guests to “get their kicks!”
Arriving at a “toll both,” guests proceeded along the double yellow line from the parking lot to the party where they were met by a dancing cop, the evening’s signature drink – “The Roadie,” and passed hors d’oeuvres. The remote controlled race track, miniature golf holes and cornhole games offered guests the opportunity for party pit stops. Local guitar duo, Two for the Road, opened the cocktail reception, followed by a traffic-stopping performance by James Montgomery.
The over 600 guests tasted their way along the highway, with 17 of Boston’s celebrity chefs serving up themed bites from different Route 66 locations – Chicago Chorizo Burgers with Shoestring Fries, Southern Fried Chicken with a Root Beer Glaze. Tables topped with vintage cigarettes, miniature cars and road signs were set amongst 50’s diner booths and chain-linked garage décor providing fun places for guests to kick back and take a seat.
Following a heartfelt program to benefit Lovelane, the evening’s grand finale was a glowing performance by Tedeschi Trucks Band featuring Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks. Lovelane supporters danced the night away under connected tents counting down the minutes until Hoedown VI in 2014.
