Elegant Details, Beautiful Logistics

February 16th, 2017

There are more logistics to planning a perfectly stunning wedding than meets the eye.

The utmost precision, planning, the right vendors and an extremely hard-working group of people, are all required to ensure all event elements are arranged perfectly in the allotted time frame – especially when a quick flip is involved!

This stunning wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston was transformed from the ceremony set-up (pictured on the left) to the reception (pictured on the right) in just 45 minutes! This all took place just steps away while guests enjoyed cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres!

To ensure that the flip would be executed seamlessly, we started by placing each table in its designated reception spot early in the morning. This allowed us to mark the floors with neutral masking tape that would later be used as a guide. With the tables dropped and the floors marked, we were able to partially set the tables with linens, silverware, and indispensable cheat sheets. These cheat sheets outlined details specific to each table including: chair count, required linens, votives, and florals. With these preliminary tasks accomplished, the tables were swiftly moved out of sight behind tall white drape.

Check out the time-laspe video we took of the day by clicking here. Our favorite part?… Notice the 306 chairs unstack, re-stack, unstack and stack again throughout the video. Team members had to collectively move those chairs 1,224 times!

Want more fun stats!? Check out our flower pie chart!

Reflecting on this day, and the combined hours of work from our team and extended team of vendors to create these 6 hours of wedding bliss, we realized that our vendor-partnerships are a lot like a marriage…

They require trust and commitment – and when we put in hard work – the results are beautiful!

Meet the Team: Andrew

February 9th, 2017

There’s only one true superpower amongst human beings, and that is being funny. People treat you differently if you can make them laugh. -Jeff Garlin

Andrew Acevedo is one of our newest team members at Corinthian Events but his experience in planning allowed him to jump into some of our biggest events seamlessly without missing a beat!

While his understanding gave him the knowledge to dive right in, his light-hearted personality, quick humor and wit is what makes him a standout addition to each event.  He has that incredible ability to keep us laughing and at the same time, “on a professional level, he has an amazingly good eye for detail,” Claudia, Account Manager at Corinthian Events, adds.

“Andrew is a stellar teammate and colleague,” Erin, Account Manager and his fellow Umass Alum says. “He loves his job and it makes working with him a ton of fun. He is also very patient and thorough in his work. You can trust that he’s going to take the time to do something right!”

Outside of the office, Andrew strives to see as much of the world as possible. If he didn’t have to work, he would love to spend his days traveling and going on one adventure after another. His curiosity to see what this world has to offer motivates him to hop on a plane any chance he gets, or out of a plane after skydiving a few years ago.

“Family and friends are the most important and most valuable in my life,” he shares. “They are the people that have made me who I am today and I cherish each one of their contributions to my life. I couldn’t be where I am without them.” It’s shown everyday by the way he forms strong bonds and relationships with everyone, “Andrew is so kind and hardworking. He is a joy to work with,” Senior Account Manager Micha exclaims.

Andrew is warm, kind, and fiercely loyal. When Andrew is not in the office he is out exploring his hometown of Boston and enjoying the company of good friends. He never shies away from a good time, and has a way to make everyone enjoy each moment in life.

“Andrew is amazing at what he does,” Shira, Program Assistant expresses, “From day one he was thrown into some rather large projects and had no problem tackling them with confidence and he continues to show that every day.” A great accomplishment of his was to be a part of the Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit with Courtney, Megan, Micha and Jill (pictured above left to right). Although Andrew is a new addition to the team, he has quickly become part of the Corinthian family.

Corinthian Events Goes Cowboy

wild west bar

Howdy y’all! Welcome to the wild, wild west.

When your client comes to you with an idea for a saloon themed party, you need to go all out. From mechanical bulls to whiskey tastings, we knew we had to create just the right balance of class and sass!

wild west decor

The evening began with the sounds of a live blue-grass duo and the visual backdrop of a classic black & white American Western movie projected in an adjourning atrium to further set the scene. Guests were offered cowboy hats and bandanas to complete their ensembles.

The first stop of the night? An antique photo booth filled with old world props and classic western attire to transform into character and capture all the western vibes in a sepia tinted photo to take home with them. The booth offered a quick-change option with all pieces to set the mood including women’s fringe dresses, boas, feathered headpieces, bowler & cowboy hats, vests, and cowboy boots.

If guests found themselves in need of refreshment they could sidle over to the custom saloon bar and place an order with the barkeep. Outfitted with rope, beer growlers, and a “Happy Trails” sign, the 12-foot bar was a centerpiece of the design.

whiskey tasting

Whiskey lovers were in for an additional treat with a whiskey tasting led by a bona-fide expert. Guests enjoyed sampling and learning about 6 different types of whiskey throughout the evening. The western look was completed with an antique wagon and whiskey barrel high-top tables.

wild west furniture

The energetic crowd took respite in this perfectly western comfy soft seating arrangement which included real cowhide rugs and classic chesterfield style leather couches adorned with faux fur pillows and blankets.

wild west games

As the guests mingled throughout the event, there was a multitude of experiences for everyone to enjoy including stylized versions of casino games such as darts, roulette, black jack, and pool.

Cowboys and girls took part in a professional line dancing class while ambitious guests took turns on the mechanical bull… this group was not afraid to let their inner western side show!
