Meet the Team: Claudia

November 10th, 2016

There’s nothing a man can do, that I can’t do better and in heels. – Ginger Rogers

Meet Claudia. Our quick-witted, OCD, organized, no bull-taking Account Manager who elevates events with her keen eye and exquisite taste. If Claudia were an Olympic Athlete she’d compete in ‘Speed-walking.’ She explains, “The rule is that one foot must appear to be in contact with the ground at all times as you race forward… it appears to be a bunch of people sashaying in sassy unison.” Google it. Seriously.

Claudia’s personality bubbles up in everything she does. “The biggest surprise with getting to know Claudia over the last 6 months is her sassy (and sometimes raunchy) wit and general silliness; it’s just a funny juxtaposition to her impeccable style, grace and beauty!” – Courtney Church, Partner at Corinthian Events

Claudia was born in Milan, Italy and grew up watching the production of fashion shows. No doubt this inspires her. “Claudia has amazing sense of style and taste.  Not only in her daily work attire but in designing events.  She thinks of every detail and is a perfectionist, making sure everything we customize is delivered in the most pristine way.”  -Jamie Hellesen, Sr. Account Manager

When Claudia isn’t typing away on emails, proposals and contracts in the office, she is busy creating memories with her husband, Seth.

In the summer she spends her weekends fishing – check out that massive striped bass! During the colder months she LOVES baking, especially with Nutella, her all time favorite food.

She is kinda obsessed with Nutella… If she could invite anyone famous, dead or alive, to dinner – her invite list would include Michele Ferrero – the genius behind Nutella, Ferrero Rocher chocolates and Kinder eggs. No doubt that dinner party would be phenomenal – Claudia is a great cook and loves to host her friends and family for dinner parties!

Claudia’s family and friends are very dear to her heart.

Although her family lives hundreds of miles away, they speak every day in one of the many languages they’re fluent in – Italian, Spanish, French and English – yes, Claudia is quadrilingual!

“(Claudia) brings such joy to the office.  Her passionate demeanor is contagious and in a constantly chaotic environment she knows how to lighten the mood and bring laughter.” – Jamie Hellesen, Sr. Account Manager

We are lucky to have Claudia as part of our team.

Megan Woonton, a Sr. Account Manager at Corinthian Events, agrees adding, “Claudia has a great sense of humor and always finds a way to make us laugh! She’s been a great addition to the team and her sense of humor is a bonus!”

Fun, smart, witty and fashionable – a badass combination!

Out of the Box Décor

November 9th, 2016

Re-purposed items lend a creative edge to events – adding out of the box thinking to impress your guests and take your décor to a whole other level.

Used cans for centerpieces – classy. A Pabst Blue Ribbon can with orchids is a light-hearted juxtaposition of taste while the Fanta can is bright and fun!

Instruments are not just for music! We used multi-colored guitars as a major décor element at this Nashville themed event. Guitars hung at different heights and lit from above, were in tune with the ambiance!

Bathtubs of booze! Wine not?

A kiddie pool with beach balls inside – not your average photo op! We filled this inflatable kiddie pool with silver beach balls – mimicking the Flexiball technology on the promoted razor, created custom over-sized razor props and rigged a camera from above. The results? Sharp photos!

Usually all heavy equipment is removed from the ballroom prior to the event… not this time! Watch for falling snow and ice!  This snowstorm gala called for construction vehicles parked in the ballroom – a fabulous bar in a blizzard.

Anything can be décor when logistics, placement, and theme are considered. At Corinthian Events we adore events that stretch the limits of our imagination!

Meet the Team: Matt

November 3rd, 2016

Matt is our resident rockstar in the office and beyond.

His band, Wonder City had the honor of playing at the Forbes Under 30 Summit on City Hall Plaza in Boston.

The conference brought together over 5,000 young minds from all over the world to share, discuss and get inspired by talks on topics including technology, design, impact (non-profit), finance and more. Performing on the main stage… It’s pretty spectacular.

On seeing Matt’s reaction to play at the Summit, Courtney shared, “Matt is a pretty mellow, even keeled guy but to see his utter joy and excitement that his band was going to be introduced by Mayor Walsh (at Forbes) was priceless!”

As our Event & Production Coordinator, Matt maintains and manages our inventory system. This is no small feat, on a busy week he is – organizing, packing and transporting all décor, supplies and other needs to events all over the city!  To do so effectively, he is meticulous – all items have a home and are kept in their spot. A tidy storage area is paramount – it allows our creative team to leverage our time organizing our ideas and spend less time organizing candles!

“Matt is AMAZING!” Dawn shared, “He is always willing to help you out, and has so much patience. I have no idea how he does it, and how he keeps everything organized! I know that I couldn’t do what he does … and not kill everyone!”

Going above and beyond is just part of a typical day for Matt. Our team relies on him to handle the logistics of moving all necessary items from point A to B (and then C or back to A) but that is only a portion of what he does!

Corinthian Events also manages the Castle at Park Plaza. Our Castle Venue Manager Maureen reflects, “Matt has been an absolute amazing back-up for me at the Castle, he is always ready to jump in even when he is running in 10 different directions preparing for an event.

Maureen goes on to share, “He is also so enthusiastic and excited about becoming more involved in the Castle and becoming my second in command.  His passion and commitment are making my life so much easier!”

We are lucky to have Matt on our team. He allows us to be more productive – focusing our time on clients and creativity instead of stresses about finding pillows and packing décor. As he continues to grow with Corinthian Events we enjoy the benefit of a multi-talented team member, quick to jump in to lend a hand.

And if his band gets a big break? We’ll be first in line to cheer him on and wish him the best!

Lending your Land

November 1st, 2016

Duck Puddle Farms has been home to the biannual Lovelane Hoedown, an outdoor fundraising festival for Lovelane Special Needs Riding Program, for 3 of the 7 total festivals.

The owners of Duck Puddle Farms are Wil and Priscilla Catlin. Wil grew up at the farm – tucked away on a quiet road in Wayland, MA, only 16 miles from Boston proper. He has lived there the ‘better part’ of 49 years! Wil and Priscilla were first connected to the Lovelane organization through friends, so when their biennial hoedown event needed a new location, the Catlin’s graciously volunteered to host.

The commitment the Catlin’s show goes much further than sharing their land. They are passionate supporters of Lovelane. They personally emailed 458 of their ‘closest’ friends to invite them to the hoedown and picked up the phone to call many more! Wil even spent months posting information on the Duck Puddle Farms Facebook page, as well as his own, to share details and progress along the way – generating more buzz and lots of last minute tickets!

Hosting the Lovelane Hoedown requires trust from the Catlin’s for all those involved to treat their property like their own and to return it to the pristine state it started/was found in. It is no small feat to host an event of this size, on private property. During 12 days of production, a lot of trucks, equipment and people were in and out the property. Imagine living there during this! In addition to this, insurance, police details, approvals from the fire department, rental orders, vendor schedules, traffic flow, and noise control all have to be handled– a lot of boxes to check for an outdoor event for 600 guests!

When pressed for whether handing the trust over to Corinthian Events at his home was difficult Wil answered, “(I) appreciate the knowledge (Corinthian Events brings) and that I don’t have to fret.”

As a planner on someone’s personal property, our goal is to ensure we are the least disruptive as possible to not only the owners but also their neighbors and surrounding community. We leave when the last truck does, but the owners have to stay! Therefore, it is imperative in the pre-planning stages to make sure everything is thought out and works for all involved.

Everything came together and made the 2016 Hoedown a blast! This year boasted the highest attendance – raising more money than ever for Lovelane.
