Staying on Top of Our Game

March 2, 2017

At Corinthian Events we value education because we are a team of driven individuals looking to stay at the top of our game. To do so, many of our team members have earned such as CMP, CSEP, and DMCP. We also strive to attend the most highly esteemed conferences such as PCMA, ADMEI and the upcoming MPI WEC & The Connection.

PCMA Convening Leaders was held in Austin, Texas. Megan Woonton and Micha Brooks (above), both Senior Account Managers at Corinthian Events attended. The theme around the conference was designing collaboration.

Micha shared, “We learned about the evolution of audience behavior, and how to meet attendee’s expectations in today’s fast moving environment! The conference was filled with inspirational presentations, real-world case studies, peer exchange and access to leading solution providers.

The conference showcased venues all over the City of Austin, allowing Megan and Micha to experience Austin and its culture! They participated in an early morning 5k which was quickly negated by a few tacos from a local fav, Torchy’s Tacos!

Claudia, Jamie and Jill went on a European adventure for the 2017 ADMEI Annual Conference in Barcelona, Spain.  ADMEI is the global voice of the destination management industry; fitting to bring together DMC’s internationally, where 60% of the attendees were global DMC’s.

The first night, hosted by Best Corporate Events started with a fun iPad scavenger hunt around Barcelona.  It was a great way to meet fellow attendees and a great way to quickly explore the city.

The hottest topic in the industry is Event Security.  They attended an amazing session with speakers Justin Kelley from MSA Security, Gordon Keay from Marriott Hotels International and Eda Ozden from Destination Business Solutions Company.  In this volatile world, it was interesting to hear the different perspectives and protocols on how to handle an unpredicted situation.

On Friday, we headed to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (National Art Museum of Catalonia) for a networking event. Situated on Montjuic hill, the museum is especially notable for its outstanding collection of Romanesque church paintings and Catalan art from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The conference closed with the ADMEI Awards Gala.  This is the night we all look forward to, to dress to impress and mingle with our industry partners as we celebrate everyone’s accomplishments from the past year, and, boy, did we have a lot to celebrate this year!  We were awarded with the “2017 Excellence in Event Décor/Design”, such an honor!  Jill, Jamie and Claudia were happy to accept this award on behalf of the entire team; we made sure to send the good news to everyone back home.

Looking forward to Chicago for ADMEI 2018!
