Meet the Team: Elizabeth

Thursday, January 5th, 2017

Talented. Detail Oriented. Successful.

You may know her as Elizabeth Iannessa… but this Director at Corinthian Events is now officially Elizabeth Trofatter, CMP. Her now husband, Tyler, is a professional lighting designer, and yes – they met on the job!

Creativity runs deep for Elizabeth. Jill, Partner at Corinthian Events shared, “Elizabeth is creative, vivacious and has a keen décor eye.  She is passionate about our brand and the quality events that have become known as the Corinthian Way.”

Elizabeth’s aesthetic is slightly quirky in the most wonderful of ways. You may not expect this but she has a deep fascination with the circus: the weirder the better! “I always dreamed of being a contortionist in Cirque de Soleil,” Elizabeth gushed, “(but) I think that ship has sailed!”

This love of circus bubbles up when given the opportunity. Most recently, she designed a “Midnight on the Boardwalk” themed holiday party which was a high-end interpretation of old-world carnival with Tim Burton-esque elements and vaudeville flair. Check out pictures and learn more about the event by clicking here.

Elizabeth is passionate about life. She first started with Corinthian Events in 2007, yet her love of adventure drew her to take a brief hiatus – and move to Italy! During this period, she took a professional culinary course in Rome, worked in hospitality, and traveled around Europe.

Upon returning to the United States, she rejoined the Corinthian Events team in 2011 and obtained her CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) in 2013.  She was elevated to the position of Director in 2015.

At the office, she spends most her time working with clients, planning strategically with our internal team and our vendor partners, making floorplans, designing spaces, thinking creatively, ensuring quality control, managing production schedules and inspiring the team to elevate the brand to new heights.

Elizabeth admitted while she considers her focus on details a valued skill in the office she added, “I probably drive everyone crazy with my method but I really like things done a certain way as it has proven to serve our clients well over the years.”

Not to worry Elizabeth… Jamie, Senior Account Manager confirmed, “Elizabeth’s attention to detail is her strongest asset!”

Outside of the office, you can find Elizabeth practicing yoga, traveling, cooking, enjoying her first year of marriage with her husband, and spending time with family whenever possible.

Her family is very important to her and she is close with her mom, dad and brother.

We are lucky to have Elizabeth and all her creativity and energy on our team!

“Elizabeth and I always have fun working together!” Megan, Senior Account Manager beamed, “Whether we are working on the same event or not, we always use each other to bounce ideas back and forth and collaborate on design concepts and logistics.”

Maureen, Castle Venue Manager at Corinthian Events shared, “Elizabeth is extraordinarily talented and knowledgeable but one of the things I love most about her is her enthusiasm. She literally lights up on site as she is pulling all the elements together!”

Aside from her immense talents, a favorite contribution from Elizabeth is her laugh. Megan and Micha, both Senior Account Managers added, “Her laugh is infectious!” She can be on the other side of the office from you and if you hear her laughter you can’t help but join in!

Tamara, Director at Corinthian Events affirmed, “Corinthian Events is better with Elizabeth on our team because she drinks the ‘Corinthian Events Kool-Aid!’ She is 100% dedicated to Corinthian Events and our brand oozes through in every service she provides and event she produces!”

Midnight on the Boardwalk

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017

Ding! The clock strikes midnight. Guests enter the Fairmont Copley Plaza to find an elegant nighttime boardwalk. An old-world feeling permeates the room; in the background, old carousel music sets the scene.

After checking their coats and receiving their name badges, guests passed though blue rope and stanchion into a unique holiday party filled with amusements. A large distressed mirror bar sat in the center of the ballroom with a 20 ft. tall truss structure wrapped in candy cane stripe custom fabric.

From the central structure, 6” chrome dipped LED light bulbs alternated with 6” frosted LED light bulbs. These oversized lights were all individually controllable which allowed for the lights to catch the beat of the music in the air. Guests felt as if they had walked inside a vintage merry-go-round with cutting edge technology.

A mixture of blue and silver textured linens covered the guest tables. Food stations were set with old cinema marquee light boxes; whimsical floral arrangements, carnival tickets, and tin wind-up toys brought life to the room. Mirror vessels recalled the mirror of a carousel and sat well in the Fairmont Ballroom with the mirror paneled doors. Lucite carnival cocktail tables were brought in to add a pop of secondary color to the space.

The soft seating areas were elegant and set with a screen and 9mm projector while It’s a Wonderful Life played in black and white on a screen.  A carnival cart of popcorn popped excitedly while waitstaff served up small blue paper boxes of the buttery goodness.  Areas were styled with throw pillows, plush blankets, and warm votive candles.

A focal point on the far end of the ballroom was the rich velvet draped enclosure reminiscent of a high-end carnival booth.  Platinum and royal blue fabric swagged this area tied back with elegant silver tassels.

The booth was divided into two areas, one side hosted the ever-popular flip book photo station where guests make a short 7-second video and a few minutes later are presented with a flipbook to take home of their cinematic fame. The other half of the carnival booth featured blue velvet arm chairs set on a round rug under an intimate crystal chandelier… perfect for the boardwalk-favorite caricature artist.

Over-sized graphics sat passively around the perimeter of the room infusing the theme a bit further into the space.  Guests perched, dined, and toasted to a year of achievements while the DJ played late into the night.

Family Reach

Tuesday, December 27th, 2016

Family Reach is a financial lifeline for families fighting cancer.

Throughout the holiday season, we host festive parties, enjoy our friends, family and loved ones and give back to our communities through donations and service.

Looking back on an incredible year, we take pride in the opportunities we have been given to work with non-profits such as Family Reach; making a difference in the live’s of people everyday.

To facilitate a recent Family Reach meeting, our team transformed a photography studio in Allston into the perfect meeting space to elevate the two-part meeting which included panel discussion and breakout sessions.

The panel discussion took place on a stage flanked by two television monitors. Their Family Reach logo was projected behind the speakers. Decor was kept simple – white walls, linens and lighting, complemented by a black stage and stage edging.

Breakout spaces utilized black and white decor as well. Silver gunmetal stools and silver easels with sleek white furniture and black linens ensured the decor was a backdrop while emulating a professional atmosphere.

Large retractable signs with quotes and the faces of some of the children supported by Family Reach reminded attendees of the importance of their purpose. This imagery of the children remained the design focal point – as do the children and families remain the focus of Family Reach.

Our team at Corinthian Events handled logistics and decor for the meeting, ensuring the Family Reach team could focus on creating content and bringing together influential people to give guidance and make connections in order for their mission to reach new heights!
